ICT audit vital to combating banking sector fraudulence
RAJSHAHI : Promotion of information and communication technology (ICT) based audit could be the vital means of combating banking sector fraudulence.
Large-scale application of ICT is also important towards making the banking transactions and other services transparent, time-fitting and client-friendly in the present era of globalization.
The observations came in the inaugural session of a five-day training titled “Computer on IT Audit” at ICT Division’s Computer Training Laboratory in Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB) here yesterday afternoon. Some 22 mid-level officers of the bank joined the course.
RAKUB Managing Director Shanaul Haque attended and addressed the session as chief guest with its training institute Principal Ataur Rahman in the chair. Faculty Member Md Arifuzzaman also spoke.
“We have enormous opportunities of infusing dynamism into the banking activities through best uses of ICT,” said Shanaul Haque. He asked the participants to discharge their duties with utmost sincerity and honesty to brighten the image of the bank along with taking it ahead successfully.
He said there is no alternative to computerisation to reach speedy and quality banking services to the clients in the present era of ICT.
“You have to build yourselves as competent bankers through the best uses of the knowledge likely to be acquired from the training,” said Shanaul. There should be devotion towards improving living and livelihood condition of the public in general and the farmers in particular.
